How to work remotely and stop procrastinating

1. Create boards with your projects in Trello(Notion)

One board — one project. In each board add follow columns:

  • To do
  • Soon (or Sprint)
  • Today
  • Waiting
  • DONE! 🎉

To do

Now add all tasks you need to do to the first column “To do”, add ALL tasks — it’s an important part, it helps you to clean your mind. Because we always try to remember what to do. If you need to prioritize your tasks, add the most important task on top of the “To do” list.

When you do it you will feel better, trust me. Deep breath…😌

Soon (or Sprint)

When you plan your work for sprint (1-2 weeks) add tasks from the “To do” column.

Today

Add the tasks for today from Soon(or Sprint) list.

Waiting

This list uses for the tasks which need to hold or it’s wait approval or the decision of someone.

DONE! 🎉

Move finished tasks to this list. Use the name of this list with emoji and you will see congratulation animation when you add tasks to this list.

2. How to work everyday

Take a paper A4. Split the list by your projects, you can also add your house works.Write tasks that you want to do today by projects. Don’t add a lot. Then choose which one you will do first, second and third, not more. Just 3. Review all tasks, try to imagine how will you do it. If hard to start choose the easiest task, when you will be done first you will feel better, confident and you will take another task much easy.

I like to choose the tasks in different projects. It helps to relax your brain. Doesn’t let you get bored.

Important thing! When you have completed the task strike out your task, add a checkmark. It makes you feel happy.

Tips:

  • If you found yourself in procrastination or you start another task — look at your A4 paper and return to your tasks which you chose before!
  • If you can’t find the best solution for the task, go to the next. Make a pause for your brain. Return to this task a bit later.
  • Unfortunately, nobody will do what you need to do. Just start to do something and you will do it.
  • Switch off email notifications. Check email manually.
  • Use meditation in the morning. 10 minutes. It helps you to clean you mind. Use Headspace app.
